In 2010, founder David Rzepka decided to add a beehive to his family farm. David never intended to become a beekeeper, but when the hive’s caretaker was no longer able to tend to the bees, David took over and quickly found he was fascinated by them. He began researching bee science and culture at The Ohio State University. David learned that the world of bees is integrally and vitally connected to ours. The actions of humans that affect the environment naturally affect the bees’ environment. Seemingly trivial matters like the foods we choose to eat and the chemicals we choose to use in our homes affect the well-being of bees, on whom we rely for the pollination of the foods we eat and the crops we grow to feed the animals we nurture for sustenance. Realizing this essential role, David set out to create products enriched by honey and beeswax as well as by ingredients that are good for us, good for the world, and good for the bees. This sustainable cycle directs all we do at Beessentials. From lip balm to soap to hair care to body wash and lotions, David and his family craft a full line of essential products that enrich and enhance the body while benefitting the natural world. All products are made in the USA on the same Ohio farm where it all began in 2010. Read their story
