Hi! I’m Heidy and I’m the owner of Girl and the Hoop. It’s so nice to meet you! Girl and the Hoop is a one-woman-Latina-owned-small business based out of Chicago. Embroidery is a meditative art form that reconnected me to my childhood and the strong women in my life who crocheted, mended clothes, embroidered and nurtured the idea that slow is GOOD. At Girl and the Hoop, we value the idea that slow is GOOD and create kits that are designed with intention and focus on sustainability. From the fabric type to the hoop, to the packaging, we carefully select eco-friendly materials to work with and minimize the environmental impact. Girl and the Hoop started as a way to de-stress from my job in IT/Finance. Embroidery helped me slow down, focus and reduce distractions. To this day, it nurtures my creativity and fuels my love for nature! My hope is that these eco-friendly kits will help you slow down, reconnect with nature, all while learning a new meditative hobby.
