Sheila, the founder of Georgian Bay Granola Company, began making granola in the early 1970s for her growing family. Convinced she could make more nutritious and delicious granola than those available in stores, Sheila created recipes with wholesome, pure ingredients and served her granola to delighted family and friends. Georgian Bay Granola Company began July 2012 at The Parry Sound Summer Market. Sheila baked her granola at home, brought it to the market and sold it fresh every week. She started with two flavours - Sugar Bush Maple (still our most popular!) and Hippy Dippy (now sold as Wildflower Honeybee Crunch). Sheila had many return customers and began to develop a loyal following among locals and tourists alike. On one of the market days it began to rain, and not wanting to ruin her products, Sheila loaded the granola in the back of her station wagon and took it to stores in Parry Sound. She had to guarantee the sales but several stores took a chance on her products. In no time the stores were sold out and asking for more. Sheila went on to offer her granolas across Ontario and the rest, as they say, is history. Georgian Bay Granola Company was born! Before long Sheila’s daughters joined the team. Hannah now manages many aspects of the company and chef Leah consults on recipes. Just about everyone in the family, including grandchildren, have helped out. We are proud of how far we’ve come and look forward to providing healthy products to many future generations!
