When our only son went off to college, we made several road trips to see him. What is the perfect snack for a road trip? BRITTLE! We bought from several different stores, but were told by a few people it was seasonal and limited on where to find it. We had a friend, John "Moose" Venable, share his recipe with us. After several months of practice, we started selling it in October 2014 at local farmers markets. Soon after we branched out to doing festivals as well. Once people started asking where they could get our brittle, we started our website. At one farmers market, we were asked about wholesaling to a hardware store so we thought 'why not' and just took off from there. We make it year around since so many said it is seasonal. John has since passed away. So, we take honor in continuing his well-known brittle. It's funny how people describe our special homemade brittle as heavenly, which led us to start our business as Heavenly Candy Brittle. We use a special technique in making our brittle that makes it lighter and not as sticky as other brittles.Read their story
