Wholesale Bronze sculpture "Femme qui lit" by Hamed Nikiema | 23 cm

This elegant bronze sculpture was created by the Burkinabe artist Hamed Nikiema. The reading woman is a symbol of educated and strong women in Africa. Working with bronze is a traditional craft in Burkina Faso. The term bronze refers to various alloys based on copper, zinc, lead, and tin, with varying proportions. Today, bronze comes from recycling old fixtures, such as faucets or parts from air conditioners. The artist first creates a wax sculpture, which is covered with a sand mixture of clay and dung and then dried. The mold is then cooked, the wax melts and escapes through the holes. The molten alloy is poured in and takes the place of the wax. After cooling, the mold is broken to remove the sculpture and make the final touches. Each piece is thus unique.
