About polanski speckstein

All our soapstone artifacts come from Tabaka/Kisii. The quite soft natural stone is 100% worked by hand - beaten, carved, polished and sometimes painted. We work with 26 producers on site, who in turn pass on their orders to the mostly independent carvers/artists. The color of the stone varies between white, gray, yellowish and reddish tones and is usually interspersed with different grains. This makes each product unique due to its shape and color. I'm in Tabaka 3 times a year. During this time, it may happen that the order is delivered with a slight delay. Read their story
