Wholesale Charolles faience deep plate, hand-painted – floral decoration: tulip, butterfly, bee

There is an immediate, almost silent gentleness in certain earthenwares. This deep plate in Charolles faience is a fine example. Its wide basin with soft lines is enlivened by a floral decoration delicately hand-painted. A large mauve tulip dominates the center, surrounded by blue forget-me-nots, yellow buttercups and green foliage. A blue-and-pink butterfly and a yellow-and-black bee hang suspended within the composition, as if caught in a summer garden. The slightly wavy rim, highlighted by fine blue lines, brings to the whole that simple elegance that has made the Charolles manufactory so renowned. Every detail breathes this French tradition of well-crafted work. A clay shaped, glazed and then decorated with patience. Both useful and decorative, this piece can hold fruit, sweets or simply serve as a centerpiece. Diameter approximately 20 cm. "m Charolles" stamp on the reverse. Very good condition.
