About Electra Makes

Hello! I’m Electra, an artist and maker based in Washington, DC. I’m currently an MFA candidate in Studio Arts at George Washington University, where I focus on building a multidisciplinary practice that moves between sculpture, fiber, printmaking, and digital work. My pieces have been shown in galleries and museums across DC, Maryland, Virginia, and New Orleans. Alongside my studio practice, I run Electra Makes, an art and accessories brand that brings my visual language into more accessible, everyday forms, with work carried in retail spaces nationally and internationally. Electra Makes is where my art practice and my personal style come together. I make work that transforms everyday items into something softer, stranger, and a little more alive. What started as a childhood impulse to fix and rework objects now moves through everything I do, from sculpture and prints to wearable pieces and small-batch accessories.Electra Makes lives in the space between art object and everyday object. I’m drawn to tension: cute and uncomfortable, polished and imperfect, playful and heavy. Whether it’s something you hang on a wall or carry with you, I want it to feel personal, a little uncanny, and emotionally charged.Read their story
