About Kara’s Shop of Pretty Things

I’ve always dreamt of being a mom (and a stay at home mom, but more on that later) and in August 2021, that dream of being a mom became a reality. While I was blessed with the most beautiful and wonderful baby, I was also dealing with a heavy case of postpartum depression and anxiety that settled in my first night of being a mom. For the first two weeks of my baby’s life I stayed in our room and would 𝗻𝗼𝘁 part from her out of fear that if I walked away, something bad would happen. I was so overwhelmed by the emotions of ppd and ppa. I went to work at 8 weeks postpartum, not ready to work, but wanting to help provide for my family. When my baby was 6 months old, I knew it was time for me to be at home with her full time, so I stepped away from my job and became a stay at home mom (making another dream come true). I knew being a SAHM would be wonderful and incredibly hard, but I was ready. I also knew that I needed a creative outlet. My first day of being a SAHM, I was on the phone with my mother in law and her friend, and we were brainstorming things I could do while at home. That’s when her friend said, “𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀!” Long story short, I started making earrings (and branched out to other pretty things), and that’s how Kara’s Shop of Pretty Things came to life! KSPT helps me live my dream of being a SAHM, gives me a creative outlet, and helps me contribute to having financial freedom for my family!
