About radical emprints

I’m the printmaker behind the press(es) at radical emprints. I started to learn letterpress printing in 2012, just as I was also beginning to learn about grassroots organizing. I ended up spending about nine years at a base-building organization, where I worked on a health care is a human right campaign and learned & then started teaching about grassroots fundraising and principled, values-aligned grantwriting. I was doing all of this while learning how to be a letterpress printer — so it was a natural progression to start putting printmaking & organizing together. The goal of my printmaking is to nourish organizers of all kinds with fierce, beautiful words that keep them invested in movement work for the long haul. I write, typeset, and letterpress print reminders, calls to action, bits of insight, reflections, demands, groundings, missives on grief—the poetry of collective liberation. All my shipping materials are from EcoEnclose - most are curbside recyclable & made with up to 90% post-consumer waste diverted from landfills. The paper that many of my letterpress prints are made on is Flurry Cotton, which is made using wind and hydro energy. All of my union-printed digital designs are printed on 100% recycled cardstock. Whenever possible, I use paper with recycled content. My default shipping carrier is the (unionized!) US Postal Service. I also sometimes use (unionized!) UPS, as its international shipping times are often faster & more predictable.Read their story
