Beverly Burgdorf is an artist, artist-in-residence and gallery owner in Williamsburg, VA. Beverly graduated from Converse College, in Spartanburg, SC, in 1991 with a Bachelor of Art degree in Studio Art and a minor in Art History. Beverly started her career by managing several galleries in Columbia, SC as she produced pieces of her own. In time she opened a home studio, became an art teacher and later opened Colonial Folk Art Studio. In 2017, Beverly began offering her work to other galleries and gift stores throughout the United States. Beverly’s ceramic pieces and mixed media paintings are heavily influenced by her love for Southern Folk and outsider art. Beverly holds a belief that folk art is about the story and how that story relates to the artist’s life. As such, Beverly’s pieces are known for their interesting subject matter and practical application. Beverly’s pottery is whimsical, yet functional. Each and every piece is individually handcrafted by Beverly for your store, allowing the piece to be of custom design and color. No two pieces are alike! Beverly’s pottery is made with clay from North Carolina and glaze made in the USA. Each piece is fired twice for durability and our typical turnaround is 45-60 days. Read their story
