I met Shyler, my future wife in 2009. She had been newly diagnosed with Celiac Disease and found kombucha as a daily remedy for digestive wellness. Since that time, Shyler has achieved a Masters in Functional Nutrition and has dedicated her career to helping other individuals and companies with nutrition guidance. When I met Shyler, I was a bar manager and a novice cocktail enthusiast. I spent the next 10 years creating and working in recognized bar programs, and working on behalf of spirit brands. Shyler and I decided that our skills and expertise could be united to create a better-tasting functional beverage in kombucha. Unfortunately, my father passed from alcoholism a few years ago, providing extra motivation. Growing up in the alcohol industry, it is more meaningful than ever that we have created a delicious healthy beverage that can take the place of a beer or a cocktail when the consumer is taking a break from alcohol or choosing to abstain from alcohol completely. Shyler and I launched Alive & Well Kombucha in May of 2023, and we have been overwhelmed with positive feedback from both category fans and skeptics. Everyone agrees that our flavor profiles are much less vinegary and acidic than any other kombucha previously tried.
