One day, I stumbled upon the book Cancer Hates Tea. With my family history of cancer weighing on my mind, I felt a surge of empowerment as I discovered loose leaf tea was a practical option to enhance and protect my future health. However, my excitement soon turned to frustration. Each steeper was a different size, and none of them fit my mugs universally! Especially when taking tea on-the-go, each cup became a chore—steeping tea in one mug only to transfer it to a travel tumbler that resulted in spilled tea and extra dirty dishes. As a busy special education teacher who frequently traveled to students’ homes, loose leaf tea felt more like a burden than a blessing. I envisioned a tea steeper that could fit into any mug and be portable like a teabag but without the waste. I embarked on a journey of design and creation. Throughout the process, my husband offered unwavering support and encouragement. After months of brainstorming and countless prototypes, I finally crafted a product that was functional, cute, and easy to use. When I showed him, he hugged me and said “I am really, really proud of you. You made something amazing!” With his encouragement, I launched my business! As a special education teacher, I am deeply invested in supporting children with developmental delays. That’s why I donate 25% of profits to special education initiatives.
