About Jakarasi
Kebbeh was born in Gambia. He has known the woven baskets since his childhood. In West Africa, they have many functions: storing the dowry for the wedding, storing fruits, bread, and other foods, and much more. In 2021, Kebbeh founded Jakarasi and brings a piece of his country to Berlin with the baskets, maintaining contact with his family and friends in Gambia through the trade of the baskets. The baskets are made from seagrass, which is a durable and fast-growing material for weaving.
