About Sally Swannell

Hello! I originally trained as a natural history illustrator and have spent 20 years creating artwork for the giftware and greetings card industry. I am very much a homebody with a passion for nature, the core threads in my work are home, nature, and human presence in the environment - created from feelings of nostalgia and belonging. I recently took a break and returned to university to study wildlife conservation, and it was there where I found my fascination and love for ecology. I have always felt a deep connection to nature, never failing to be awestruck by its beauty across the whole spectrum from soil to sky. Plants and trees in particular hold special interest for me, their quiet presence, intelligence, and resilience needed to survive in today’s increasingly challenging human environment and changing climate, are inspiring. They are too often taken for granted, and I feel that art has its part to play in reminding us of their importance and beauty. A core value in my business is sustainability on all levels, creating work and products that have a positive impact on the world with minimal environmental impact. I source materials that are environmentally friendly, ethically produced, and locally available when possible, including using materials from renewable sources, via print-on-demand in England. My long term vision is a business that can contribute to fundraising for marginal land purchase to help restore environmentally degraded areas in the UK. Read their story
