About Lancaster & Sons

I was born in central Texas and grew up in a quiet urban neighborhood. When I was seven, my parents decided to leave the city and start a family homestead. We began growing a vast garden, picking fresh peaches, and raising chickens, rabbits, and goats, which was a significant change from our previous small-town life with just a Cocker Spaniel and two hamsters. They instilled in me the value of working with my hands and living a life closely connected to the land. I started taking woodworking, pottery, blacksmithing and leatherwork lessons from accomplished craftsmen. I carved my first spoon at around age 10, which became my mom's favorite kitchen utensil. She used it daily until her passing nearly a decade later. My first project on the lathe came when I was 12 or 13, and the mallet I made back then still serves me well on my workbench. Over the years, I've crafted furniture, guitars, and many other items, but I find the most joy in creating functional and traditional kitchenware, often with the help of my wife, Crissa, and our 5 children. We spent nearly six years on a small farm in the southwest corner of Virginia before relocating to our current home at the foot of the Crazy Mountains, in beautiful southern Montana.
