Our Story HIKARI TEA was founded to share authentic Japanese matcha through exceptional sourcing, thoughtful design, and a deep respect for tradition. Our signature matcha comes directly from an award-winning, female-led farm in Yame, Fukuoka—one of Japan's most celebrated tea-growing regions. Stone-milled from first flush leaves in small batches, it delivers a vibrant green color and a smooth, balanced flavor with notes of white chocolate, citrus blossom, and spring herbs. I grew up between Osaka and the mountains of Kumamoto in a family where tea ceremony was part of everyday life. My mother is an Urasenke tea master, and those early experiences shaped my understanding that matcha is more than a drink—it is an expression of care, hospitality, and connection. Today, we work directly with the Mizota family, whose teas have earned Japan's highest honors for quality. Every detail, from our minimalist packaging to our handcrafted tea tools, reflects our belief that tradition and modern living can exist beautifully together. HIKARI (光) means light in Japanese—a reflection of our mission to illuminate the craftsmanship, culture, and people behind every bowl of matcha.
