uBu was born from of a love of exploring the world through food. Since before our kids could walk, we’ve been hiking the trails of North America, from Vancouver Island to the rainforests of the Guatemalan Petén. We also happen to make the amazing hummus. What we began more than 20 years ago at a small coffeehouse has grown into the largest hummus company in Eastern Wisconsin. We’ve tried all the power bars and we were ready for something different, something that felt like real food. What we wanted while traveling was something more filling and nutritious and felt like real food. What we wanted was hummus... and that conversation has lead us down some new paths! Rethinking hummus and focusing on sustainability we realized it’s time to move past conventional hummus with its single use plastic containers and need for refrigeration. uBu's Hiker's Hummus is lighter, has better packaging, and all of its energy requirements happen under our roof where we can source renewable energy. We use fresh ingredients, zero preservatives, and buy our produce directly from local farmers. Hiker's Hummus is filling a gap in the outdoors market and doing it sustainably while making our kids proud. And hey, it tastes amazing! Read their story
