I started Utu® because I couldn't find a sunscreen I actually wanted to use. Hiking in the Eastern Sierra — high altitude, strong UV, long days outside — every mineral sunscreen I tried was thick, greasy, or left a white film, so I stopped using them. High in the Sierra Nevada I had a simple thought: why does clean sun protection have to feel like a compromise? I couldn't find an answer. So I built one.
