Gather Goods Co is a gift shop and coworking space in downtown Cary, North Carolina as well as the line of card, coasters, tea towels, mugs, art prints and more designed by me, the shop owner, Michelle Smith. I am a small business with 2 part-time employees, with my husband moonlighting as a helper in the evenings after his full-time job. I am passionate about design, color, creating community and beauty in a noisy world as well as speaking up about feminist and disability rights. I am a flower and nature lover who when not managing a busy business, parenting a teenager or walking my dog, is walking to the farmers market, reading and gardening. I am a twenty plus year retail and maker entrepreneur having started my business in 2004 with a makers market called The Rock & Shop Market alongside wholesaling my own wares and then segueing into brick and mortar shop ownership in 2014. I have worked as a professional photographer and interior and food stylist and my work and products have been featured in Better Homes & Gardens publications, Southern Living, Real Simple gift guide and more. I know first hand the balance of creating a lovely store and finding products that sell well, and having only so much space to fill your shelves and a limited budget to restock. My best selling products are my everyday, evergreen greeting cards, happy birthday cards, my Christmas cards followed by my inspirational quote stickers and my Done Is Better than Perfect Notepad - a new item!
