The night I decided to start the company, I called my mom to share the idea. She was supportive but not overly excited. The next morning at 6am, my phone rang. She told me she had a vivid dream. In the dream, I had said something unkind to my sister. As a consequence, she made me repeatedly write the phrase “The law of kindness is on my lips.” As I wrote, two words stood out to her: Kind. Lips. Lip balm goes on our lips. Our words pass back through them. Lip balm can be a reminder to be kind. That connection became the foundation of the brand.
