Michaels opened in 1964 as a small pizzeria (a pizza oven and four tables). For years, the Cacaces sent regulars home with containers of their sauces upon request, but as time went on, they saw an opportunity and began packaging the sauces in shelf-stable jars. They had a sauce plant built at the restaurant with kettles and filling machines and brought on additional staff to help accommodate the growing demands from consumers and local stores. It was time! Michaels of Brooklyn was on trend and had what consumers wanted – all natural, fresh ingredients, made by hand, Certified NON-GMO and Certified Gluten Free premium pasta sauces!
