Garden Signs for "The Victory Garden of Tomorrow" are designed to engage our neighbors and increase attention toward the health, vitality and enjoyment of outdoor spaces. A sign activates an outdoor space with meaning and purpose. This original collection is by Joe Wirtheim, and made in Portland, Oregon. Wirtheim writes: I enjoy walking in my Eastside Portland neighborhood. I'd stroll past so many living trees, flowers, bushes, homes. Inspiration came from a desire to commune with my neighborhood, while keeping with the quiet and peaceful atmosphere. I wanted to contribute to our neighborhoods’ sense of friendliness that we want to cultivate, and most of all, to declare what we feel is important. When I see a sign reading this is a "Pollinator Friendly Garden," then that space is activated in my mind. It has purpose and intention now. The sign gives the yard a voice, one that speaks a language in keeping with the architectural languages of the home so that they live well together. A type, color and shape that compliments both the yard and the home, imbuing both with a sense of delight in what is truly important. Since 2010, Wirtheim’s art and design work for the VGoT has been recognized by Martha Stewart Living Magazine, by Organic Gardening Magazine, by the Portland Art Museum, the Design Museum Boston, and even appearing in The New York Times.
