When we think of good times we usually relate them to flavors and sensations: a meeting with friends and a good wine, or a family meal or couple around the fire. Maybe because of that, one of the moments that with the most darling i keep from my childhood is the smell that came out of my grandmother's kitchen during the summers we spent with her and my grandfather in the country. That's where our story begins: in Sarteneja, the farmhouse of my grandparents, situated in an irrigated land where, for decades, tomatoes have been grown. In the mornings, before the arrival of the heat, we went out to pick some tomatoes which my grandmother then prepared from many forms: in soup, in picadillo, with a splash of olive oil or, fried, my preferred. Years later, my father thought we could bottle the tomato and take advantage of it throughout the year. Little to little began to divide it between family and friends and, in the face of the good welcome and thanks to their desire to do new things, we ended up creating our brand, “Cortijo de Sarteneja”, a name representing the family, the tradition and, also, overcoming. Almost a decade later, we're still working with products that reflect that willingness to maintain tradition and also to innovate.
