About Greener Bark

Hey there, eco-focused retailers and fellow pet-loving entrepreneurs! I'm Vanessa, founder of Greener Bark—a female-founded, eco-focused pet lifestyle brand that launched in 2023 with a home base in sunny Los Angeles, California. My journey began with a usual walk around my neighborhood with my former Siberian Husky, Cooper. I noticed how many plastic poop bags and miscellaneous items were littering the streets and sidewalks. Not only was it unsettling to see all the plastic waste decorating the pavements, but daunting to find out no one was doing anything about it. That's when my hunt began. I started to look for plastic alternatives, and trust me, there were a lot, but none that satisfied me. Either they were too thin and easily torn, too cheap, too expensive, biodegradable but not fully compostable, or made from a cornstarch blend (code for some plastic in it). The list went on, and my search did too. That's when I decided to take action and create a better solution - Greener Bark. Greener Bark’s mission is to make everyday pet care simpler and more sustainable—one poop bag at a time. We created an easy, everyday swap pet parents can feel good about—without sacrificing quality, affordability, or true sustainability. Today, Kodak (our Aussie) is the inspiration and face of the brand—representing the spirit of everything we create. Cooper passed away in late 2023 and will always be remembered as an amazing dog with a love for chasing squirrels!Read their story
