Once upon a time in a small little town, Dave Williams of Dutch Hill Road, became interested in making maple syrup. After learning about it at school, he decided to tap a handful of trees in his parents’ backyard. He hung a bucket on each one and waited for the sap to run. He boiled the sap and made his very own syrup. He never let another year pass without making more. As time passed, Dave had a couple of young men of his own. As a family, they continued the tradition of making syrup year after year. His youngest son, Nate, married a local girl, Cristy, in 2013. Nate and Cristy soon purchased property on Woodmancy Road, with the dream of making their own syrup. They got right to work ordering maple supplies and preparing the woods. Maple season came and the first official syrup from their Woodmancy Woods was born. Nate worked hard to expand their sugarbush every year. They now manage over 8,000 trees. Nate and Cristy watched their family business grow with each and every tap. More and more syrup was made. Then maple candy. Then Maple Cream. Then Granulated Maple Sugar. And the list goes on. As their business grew, so did their family. The third generation is now learning and helping in their own way. And maybe, just maybe, we’re building something sweet for them to add to their own stories. Read their story
