About Lumberjack's Arctic Treats

Kristin Johnson, owner of Lumberjack’s Arctic Treats, said that the idea to open a store dedicated to selling freeze dried foods came to her and her husband Jason when they noticed how popular freeze dried candy is at the numerous festivals that happen each year in the North Georgia area. “We said wow everybody can get it at festivals, but where do you go to a store and get all these different things and have it be available all the time,” Johnson said. “We live in Dahlonega and we found a good location here in Dawsonville to be able to set up, so hopefully we can get a big buzz about all the different freeze dried stuff you can do and let people know it’s readily available and it’s not just at a festival that comes to town.” Johnson has a degree in business and accounting from Georgia Gwinnett College and worked as a manager at Kroger for 15 years before switching jobs to help her husband with his tree cutting business. So when she and her husband started talking about the idea of opening a freeze dried treat store, she was able to pour herself fully into the project. Read their story
