In the spring of 2006, Scott Christensen had a dream. With the support of his wife Jennifer, Boulder Innovations got its start in a small, unfinished basement in rural South-Central Utah. With the help of a local craft store chain, his dream soon became reality and the business was moved to a larger location. They hired a few employees to help build and ship products locally. Once they were well established, Boulder Innovations started outsourcing manufacturing to China. During the economic crash and recession, their rural Utah community was hit extremely hard; the largest employer in the area closed their doors. In a county of 2500 people, 200 people were laid off. Boulder Innovations decided to make some changes to help the community. In 2011, they went back to making all of their products locally. In four short months, Boulder Innovations went from 4 employees to 24. Scott says it only worked because of the support of our customers. “We never would have made it, if they didn’t respond so positively.” In the summer of 2013, Lisa Huff joined Boulder Innovations as the National Sales Manager. She has brought a wealth of knowledge and has expanded the brand on a national level. Boulder Innovations looks forward to helping other grassroots startups become successful.
