About Mean Mail

Mean Mail makes design-led, brutally honest greeting cards that tell the truth. Our cards are based on the way we speak to our closest friends. I started Mean Mail because I couldn’t find a decent Valentine’s card so I wrote one that said ‘I’d like to keep this when we split up’ and gave it to my partner. It started a conversation about all the things I wished a card could say but didn’t and grew from there. Sustainability and transparency are at the core of Mean Mail. Each Mean Mail is made using FSC certified or recycled materials and packaged ‘naked’ (or with biodegradable cellos on request). There’s no compromise on this for us. All designs begin life being hand printed in small batches on our hot foil press in our studio in Leyton, London, UK. We only upscale printing when we know a design sells well. The majority of our cards are occasional neutral and most of our seasonal ranges can be sold all year round. We’ve worked on collaborations and commissions for brands like Nike London, Shiseido and Candy Kittens and we’ve been featured in publications ranging from Time Out to The Sunday Times.
