Smitten Kitten began the way all good origin stories do: with a creative twenty-something armed with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ceramics (yes, really) and a stubborn determination to carve out a place in the design world. Amy Kwong, the designer behind the brand hustled hard in the early days 💪 and worked her way up to become an award-winning creative director for a global giftware manufacturer. It was a cushy gig, but after clashing with the company’s ethos one too many times (i.e., she worked for soulless, greedy bastards), Amy peaced out of the mass-produced giftware hellscape ✌️ determined to build something better 🌈 In 2006, with a dream, a computer, and exactly zero chill, she launched Smitten Kitten to bring manufacturing back to North America, and design the kind of products she would crush on: bold, smart, unapologetically fun. Starting again from the bottom was hard. The grind was real, but persistence pays off 😅 Eventually, retailers around the world—Barnes & Noble, Paper Source, Urban Outfitters, Indigo, Paperchase, and hundreds of independent shops—fell in love with that sassy (and a little bad-assy) vibe. Turns out people love cards with attitude! Who knew? Today, Smitten Kitten is an award-winning design studio with a global presence 🌟 We’re still making paper goods and gifts with attitude, obsessively detailed craftsmanship, and a wink to pop culture 😉 It’s been a wild ride and honestly?
