The Girls Company is a women's health company that is currently focused on a solution for alleviating period cramp pain. The Girls Company was founded by Zoia Ali, Taimi Kennerley and Abby Warner. They met in an entrepreneurship class at their university and all shared a mutual passion for women's health problems. They wanted to create solutions. So, to get started, they began with what they knew. Zoia has debilitating cramps that sometimes cause her to throw up and she has frequently been forced to miss school, work and other events as a result of her cramps. The three girls began researching and found that Zoia is not alone. 62.8 million women in the U.S. experience period cramp pain and of those, 40% experience pain so severe, they're forced to skip work or school. They started looking for solutions but found that the options were scarce and that many solutions (other than medication) required the user to be stationary. The girls set out to create something that allowed people with period cramps to have relief on the go without putting anything in their body. After lots of research, interviews, surveys and many rounds of prototyping and testing, the girls created their first product. A thin, portable, discrete heated band that alleviates period cramp pain.
