About Local Supply

Born in Bondi, Australia in 2013, Local Supply began with a vision to supply design-led, sustainably made products for locals everywhere. Since inception, we have pioneered the design and manufacture of plant-based eyewear working with progressive materials, industry-leading designers and best-in-class manufacturers. Local Supply has become the go-to eyewear collaboration partner for top-tier Australian fashion brands like Bassike, Zulu & Zephyr, Aje & Academy Brand), Australian icon Lara Worthington & UK stylist Gabriel Hackworthy. Petra, our Head of Product, has been designing luxury eyewear for over a decade developing ranges for the likes of Celine, The Row, and Dior. Her design experience elevates Local Supply products to a level that is unmatched in our price category. Our BASICS range is engineered for everyday wear and made from our signature Swiss plant-based resin. Our frame material is BPA and phthalate-free and is derived from castor plants grown in semi-arid areas (without competing with food crops for land). Our custom injection moulding process utilizes low-waste manufacturing to produce 10x more frames per kg than traditional acetate production. Our LIMITED range is handcrafted in micro-production batches allowing for more experimental designs. These frames are constructed from biodegradable “bio-acetate”. By using only plant-based plasticisers, these frames contain less than 0.0001% phthalates (DEP) vs. over 25% found in acetates used by other brands.Read their story
