About Horse Spirit Studio

Horse Spirit Studio was created from the collaborative efforts of two women bead artists, Karen and Mary. Inspiration comes from Southwestern culture, environment and Spirituality. As the studio became more successful, Karen and Mary wanted to give back to their communities. Thanks to many loyal customers, Horse Spirit Studio now donates a percentage of your purchase to SWIWC.org ~ Southwest Indigenous Women's Coalition, who assists and educates Native American women victims of domestic violence and abuse. Mary Winona Roanhorse Creator, Designer Mary learned beading as a young girl from her Dine' (Navajo) grandmother, (Mary's ancestral lineage is Dine', French, Spanish and Scottish and is not an enrolled tribal member.) She, like Karen, was once a Southwest archaeologist but her first love was making jewelry. Everything she creates is Blessed and prayed over. Karen Owner, Creator, Designer Living, working as an archaeologist in the Southwest, I found my soul at home among the Southwest Native people and their culture (My ancestral lineage is Montauk, Scottish, Irish and Swedish...I am not an enrolled Tribal member). Their art made me feel inspired. I was introduced to bead stringing by archaeology friend Mary and it has become a Spiritual journey. Read their story
