About Masala Cards

We are a small independent card company out of Asheville, North Caroline that was founded in 2005 by the husband/wife team of Todd Smith and Deborah Foster with a keen interest in fine art, illustration and design. Masala Cards was purchased this year on January 1, 2026 by another local husband/wife team of Lori Portka (artist) and Jay Mangicaro (operations). Lori has her their own card line as well as other stationery and gifts created from Lori's original paintings that is also available on Faire and can be found at www.loriportka.com. We continue to feature amazing artwork inspired by creative designs of both established and emerging artists, fine artists, and Illustrators from the US and around the world. Our cards are printed on high-quality, durable vellum card-stock suitable for framing and include a matching A7 square-flap envelope and clear protective sleeve. They are featured in over 750 shops in the USA and Canada such as: bookstores | gift shops | boutiques | general/mercantile stores | garden stores | florists | museum gift shops and more.
