About Oliver and the Sea

We’re a family business who grew up at the shore + have always have had a love for the sea. In 2015, "Oliver and the Sea" was created after learning our cat, Oliver, had an enlarged heart. We took him for a feline echocardiogram (yes there are feline cardiologists!) + learned how severe this was. We would do anything to save his life. Weeks later, we visited New Orleans for vacation. We spontaneously went to a street market one morning. We met an artist / vendor with wooden bowties. They were beautiful, we were very intrigued + thought, THIS! --- We could create a brand, make unique custom wooden products, + this could help fund Oliver's testing and daily beta blockers. We found a wood worker who made us the actual bowties. We would then sew the fabric + strap onto them. We started on Etsy selling the wooden bowties as groomsman gifts. This was the beginning of our journey. By popular demand, we added wood watches, rattan earrings + crystal jewelry. 8 years later, dozens of amazing retailers and small business buyers + over 50 street markets, weve saved Oliver’s life! It was my goal to not only save Oliver's life, but spread awareness + create a beautiful product along side. Our watches, rattan earrings + crystal jewelry are all designed and put together in our home. We hope to grow on Faire with amazing retailers across the country.Read their story
