Confident, fashion-forward, mysterious, maybe. Constructed with high-quality linen, cotton, and the occasional synthetic in assorted textures and weights, each piece is dyed for an effect of uncommon depth and texture. A California native transplanted to Chicago, she earned a B.F.A. from the School of the Art Institute, and at the same time, taught herself how to design apparel. She applied her exuberance, creativity, and curiosity, playing with different fibers, materials, dye techniques, construction until she found her inimitable aesthetic. Just out of college, she launched her first official clothing line, securing several local boutiques who appreciated her superior craftsmanship and unique point of view. A brand was born. Today, Cynthia Ashby Designs are featured in 200+ stores in the U.S., Canada, and Australia.
