Its connection to its homeland is reflected not only in its name "Jöl en Reek," which means "Fire and Smoke" in Sölring—one of the ten main North Frisian dialects—but also through its regional ingredients, such as Sylt peat. Strong, pleasant peat and smoke notes in the aroma, framed by hints of caramel, as well as roasted almonds and oak, develop a characterful flavor on the palate of smoky sweetness and charred wood, complemented by a finely spicy and salty bouquet. In the finish, this Single Malt Whisky is long, balanced, and spicy with notes of pepper, nutmeg, heather, and peat.
