It can be said that the “green gold” of ancient Rome were the Venafro Olive Trees: in fact, those found in the Venafro Olive Park are millenary plants, making them by far among the oldest in Italy. The variety today is called 'Aurina', but in the Samnite era it was called 'Licinia' - hence 'Licinian oil'. Venafro is a bright golden yellow oil, quite dense. Fine and elegant on the nose, it evokes memories of olive and green apple, fresh almond and lettuce leaf.
