Taralli are small, crispy snacks from the Puglia region of Italy. The addition of herbs like oregano, garlic, onion, and tomato gives this taralli an Italian pizza flavor. The origins of taralli date back to the 1400s: a time when droughts were common and famine could easily strike. Therefore, the inhabitants of Puglia had to be resourceful. They did so by combining ingredients always found in every pantry: flour, extra virgin olive oil, salt, and white wine. And so, the first varieties of taralli were born! Over time, taralli became one of Italy's most famous bread substitutes and today it's often used as a snack. Perfect for appetizers or to serve with soup or salads!
