Description
Fan-shaped and finely detailed, these clip earrings are inspired by butterfly motifs from the Tairona Culture of Colombia. Braided and circular details honor a craft that dates back centuries. In pre-Columbian cultures, the butterfly symbolized transformation, the soul, and the cycle of life and death. Among Colombia's goldsmith traditions, the motif appears in two forms: as naturalistic figures with outstretched wings, and as the elegant crescent shapes of narigueras, nose ornaments worn by high-status individuals whose abstracted form traces back to the butterfly's open wings. • Drop earrings • 24k Gold-Plated Base • Pierced with surgical stainless steel posts • Pre-Columbian Culture: Tairona • Pre-Columbian Region: Sierra Nevada Santa Marta, Colombia • Handcrafted • Clean with a damp cloth and dry with a soft, clean cloth.
