Wholesale White Ibis — Tell Me More

This white ibis art print captures one of Florida’s most recognizable coastal birds. White ibises are everywhere in my part of the state — wading through park lawns, perching on docks, gathering in flocks that move together like a single organism. They have long, curved bills that probe mud for crustaceans, and a body language that ranges from professorial to downright quirky. I named one of my ibis paintings “The Professor” for exactly that reason. I paint each ibis freehand with Kissho Gansai mineral pigments on archival cotton rag paper. White birds are a particular challenge in watercolor — the white is the paper itself, so everything is built around it through careful shadow work and the restraint to leave the brightest areas untouched. It’s negative space as a technical discipline. Each giclée is printed in my Pawtucket, Rhode Island studio on archival cotton rag, color-matched to the original.
