This unique fair-trade ornament represents the Eastern Bluebird - the beautiful blue bird that stands out in fields and nests in boxes put out by people wanting to help it produce more young. It will look great hanging on your Christmas tree, rear-view mirror or adding a colorful touch to another part of your home. This ornament was woven with chambira palm fiber by a native Amazon artisan. The sale of these ornaments supports forest conservation and helps meet local needs in traditional communities in Peru. These bird ornaments were made artisans from the campesino village of San Francisco on the Maranon River. We have three models of the bluebird available now. The regular model has the classic cobalt blue back and wings. The second variation is a smaller size with the classic colors. The wings and back of the third model are bluish-purple. Yep, we goofed with that one. These second two models will be discontinued when their supply runs out. Each ornament comes with a tag listing the name and home of the artisan who made it and the plants used to make it.
