The Southern California outfit’s debut 7-inch is a whiplash-inducing blend of ethereal melodies and gut-punching aggression, conjuring echoes of the ‘90s punk underground that was mislabeled as grunge. Opener “For Those In Misery” builds from brooding tension to an unrelenting climax, while “Pistol” feels like an unearthed relic from the heavier side of Seattle’s heyday. Closer “Misery II” cements their vision: heavy, hypnotic, and unflinchingly raw. A blistering introduction to a band with much more to say.
