The Grumman G-44 Widgeon is a twin-engine, amphibious aircraft. Designed as a smaller, less expensive version of the Grumman Goose, it first flew in 1940 and was produced from 1940 to 1949. The Widgeon played a vital role in World War II, serving as a patrol and utility aircraft for various branches of the US military, including the Navy, Coast Guard, Army Air Forces, and Civil Air Patrol. The British Royal Navy also used it, referring to it as the "Gosling". A total of 276 Grumman G-44 Widgeon aircraft were built by Grumman.
