Wholesale RAYS PLATE – Round L / Indigo & Urushi Wooden Plate

A handcrafted round plate bearing the "Rays" pattern — 光線貼り (Kousen-bari) in Japanese — conceived by Kenichi Mori, second-generation craftsman at MORI KOUGEI. Natural wood veneer is aligned by hand to radiate from the center, revealing a quiet shimmer that shifts as the viewing angle changes. Four finishes are offered: – Indigo: deep blue veneer, dyed with natural fermentation indigo native to Tokushima. – Urushi: layered Japanese lacquer, for depth and water resistance. – Ai-Urushi: indigo-tinted lacquer. – Sumi-Urushi: charcoal lacquer. Ai-Urushi and Sumi-Urushi are produced in collaboration with Tsutsumi Asakichi Urushi-ten, a venerable urushi house specialized in natural Japanese lacquer. The round form is at home on the dining table, in fine dining presentations, or as a display piece in a gallery or interior. A note on the makers. MORI KOUGEI began in 1953 with the first generation, Masaichi Mori. The patterns and surfaces of today's product line are shaped through a quiet collaboration between Kenichi Mori — second-generation craftsman and Mokuga artist, who invented the Rays pattern — and his son Hiroyuki Mori, the current director, who systematized the broader design vocabulary the workshop now uses across trays, plates, clocks, and stands. Tokushima itself shapes the work. The region is known both for fine woodcraft, a legacy of the Awa boat builders who turned their skills to furniture and interior work, and for natural fermentation indigo, a centuries-old dye tradition that still informs the deep blue tones in the studio's finishes.
