Helmut Zacharias (1920–2002) was a German violinist and conductor who made his Magic Violins one of the most popular ensembles in Europe in the 1950s and 1960s. His Strauss arrangements, light, brilliant and danceable, capture the spirit of the Viennese ball with natural elegance. His Polydor records sold millions of copies worldwide. The sleeve features a color photograph of a grand Viennese ball in period costume, crystal chandeliers, military uniforms and evening gowns. Very cinematic, 1960s atmosphere. The back contains the program notes in English and German as well as the Polydor catalogue. Record and sleeve well preserved for their age.
