Samhain (pronounced “sow-win”) is a fire festival of the ancient Celts, marking the end of summer and harvest season, and the beginning of the dark, cold winter months. Known as a halfway point between the fall equinox and the winter solstice, it’s celebrated from October 31st to November 1st to welcome in the darker half of the year. The ancient Celts believed Samhain was a liminal space or "thin place" as it was believed that the veil between the mortal world and the spirit world is the thinnest on Samhain, making it a powerful night for divination, spell casting and honoring our ancestors through altars and rituals.
