Description
#79 Downy Woodpecker The black-and-white Downy Woodpecker, the smallest member of its family in North America, is common across most of the United States and Canada. It is a familiar visitor to backyard feeders, where it prefers suet, and in the winter it will join in flocks of chickadees, nuthatches, and other active little birds in parks and woods. It uses its chisel-shaped bill to excavate and forage on wood, and its stiff tail as a brace to cling onto a tree.

These birds really do fly... our customers can't seem to live without them! We were actually shocked by how fast they sold. Photos can't do them justice -- they're even more beautiful in person. Thanks so much for the great line!
