The Los Angeles River's official beginning is where Bell Creek and Arroyo Calabasas meet in Canoga Park, Los Angeles. The river's history is long and complex, with many significant events but from its current starting point it travels 51 miles through the valley making a turn South at the 134 and 5 interchange and eventualy letting out in Long Beach. This art celebrates the Santa Monica Mountains and the Santa Susana Mountains where the creeks that make up the LA River come from. The print also features California Native Plants like mallows, poppies, and asters as well as animals like Coyotes and Blue Herons. In the hills a fire burns to remind us of how fire dependent our local ecosystems are and that low burning fires are a integral part of our local Chaparral. Print is gicllee quality ink printed on archival Epson paper.
