Ammonites are found widely around the world today, dating back over 50 million years — they formed when the creature inside was trapped by lava, and once it deteriorated, a hollow impression was left in the rock. During the Mesozoic age, this void filled with mineral deposits and created the new form, known as an ammonite. Cast from an original ammonite fossil, this piece of history will last a lifetime. 1 Star — Very Fragile The map turtle wall hanging shell is extremely fragile and chips with the slightest movement. It’s far too delicate to handle or transport, and the material feels brittle and poorly made. Looks nice online, but in reality it can’t withstand normal use. Very disappointing and not worth the price.

Despite our attempts to connect with the customer and remedy his concerns about these items, he elected to leave these reviews on products which were damaged under his care, over 2 weeks after they were successfully received. The pieces were repackaged by the customer and broken after he subsequently traveled with them. These items are handmade in plaster here in the US and we have been making and shipping them from our Atlanta studios for nearly 50 years. Plaster is a material that has been used for thousands of years throughout history, but does require extra care in handling and packaging. Rest assured, we take great pride and care to send you beautiful, unique handmade items safely.
